A full Readers Workshop starts with a mouth-watering mini-lesson, moves to a well-balanced luxurious work time with sides of conferring, and ends with a sweet community-building reflection time.

In this 3rd Grade Lab Classroom, we will spend our time observing and enjoying the meat of the Readers Workshop time – the work time.  We will explore the following questions:

  • What is the teacher’s role during worktime & how should he/she prepare?
  • What do individual conferences look like?
  • What authentic response opportunities should I provide during work time?

Come and join us as we explore these delicious aspects of this crucial part of reading instruction!

We welcome up to four (4) participants that are NOT from the Independence School District.

On Day 1, following the workshop, there will be a lunch and “crafting” session for the next day’s lesson which all teachers are welcome to attend.  This will be held at the Independence School District Central Office, 201 N. Forest, Independence, MO  64050.
