You’re Invited to our Mini-lesson Getaway!

Come get away with Erica Abbiatti, 4th grade, to explore powerful mini-lessons!  The full getaway package includes a guided tour through mini-lessons, a relaxing hour of independent reading and conferring, and a debrief session designed to share the highlights of our thinking as readers.

See how these mini-lessons:

• Build off of each other each day.
• Explore powerful mentor texts enabling students to use metacognition and synthesis.
• Observe how students apply critical thinking strategies from the mini-lessons to their own text in their reading reflection journals.

We look forward to getting away with you for fun and exploration of mini-lessons designed to get kids thinking about their reading.

We welcome up to six (6) registrants that are NOT from the Independence School District. 

Pre-brief – 8:45 a.m.
Workshop Lesson – 9:15 a.m.
Debrief – 11:00 a.m.

On Day 1, following the 11:00 a.m. Debrief,  we will have lunch and a “crafting” session for the next day’s lesson which teachers are welcome to attend if they wish.  This will be held at the Independence School District Central Office, 201 N. Forest, Independence, MO 64050.
