Building Fraction Fluency
Do your students struggle with fractions? Do they know when and why common denominators are needed and why we “invert and multiply” when dividing but not when multiplying fractions?
For many, fractions are an extremely difficult subject. But now there is an easier way to teach and learn them. Join Greg February 18th and learn to:
1. Build a strong, foundational understanding of fractions with Cuisenaire Rods. Give your students the hands-on practice they need to make the important transition from whole numbers to fractions and decimals.
2. Develop fraction number sense by using logic and understanding to strategically order, compare and find equivalent fractions. Use Greg’s digital resources to provide the variation and repetition students need for fluency.
3. Model and clearly explain standard algorithms for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions. Use strip diagrams to model and solve difficult, multi-step word problems involving fractions, decimals, proportions and rates of change.
