     8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Registration:  8:30 a.m.
Workshop:  9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

If you registered for the November 13 workshop, you are automatically registered for the February 5 workshop.

Participants will begin by discussing the Outcomes of Understanding, a set of markers that indicate whether students understand deeply.  In addition, participants will learn about an observation tool they can use with colleagues to analyze classroom discourse and will receive several tools students can use to reflect on their oral language interactions with other students.  In the afternoon, participants will have an opportunity to view a demonstration with local students that brings the content into focus for classroom implementation.

The Seminar will be based on Elin”s new Heinemann publication, Talk About Understanding: Rethinking Classroom Talk to Enhance Comprehension (Heinemann, 2012) as well as her two previous books, Mosaic of Thought and To Understand.

Workshop Location:
Park Hill School District
Gerner Family Early Education Center
8100 N. Congress
Kansas City, MO  64153

Directions to the Gerner Family Early Education Center:
